Ever wondered what physically connects us all when we use the Internet? When people talk about Cloud services, are they using a euphemism for underground cables and wires?

Journalist Andrew Blum gives a fascinating talk at a TED conference in Edinburgh about what the Internet is really made of. He set out to go see what the thing that was so important to his life really consisted of - the underwater cables, secret switches and other physical bits that make up the net.
